Abstract

This article examines the issue of women and their place in society as presented in Ismail Gaspirali’s work The Land of Women. It explores how the author addresses this issue not merely through narration or moral instruction, but through vivid representations of reality and the characters who shape its development. By placing the tragic lives of women who have lost both their spiritual essence and outward identity at the centre of the narrative, Gaspirali openly exposes the decline of society and the tragedy of the nation. In particular, the portrayal of a group of women who have adopted masculine appearances and behavioural characteristics serves as a key artistic device in conveying the author’s ideological intentions. The article also analyses the psychological experiences of the characters, the emotional conflicts underlying their actions, and the role of irony and unconventional narrative situations in revealing the spiritual and social problems of the period
