Abstract

The development of reading comprehension skills is an essential component of effective English language teaching, as it enables learners to understand textual information, identify main ideas, interpret contextual meanings, and critically evaluate the information presented. This article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations of using interactive methods to develop reading comprehension skills in English language lessons. Particular attention is given to reciprocal teaching, jigsaw reading, think-pair-share, problem-based reading, guided questioning, and collaborative text analysis. The study draws on established approaches to reading instruction and research on interactive learning to explain how these methods can facilitate cognitive engagement, metacognitive awareness, learner autonomy, and communicative competence.
